Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology, Cayuga-Cortland Workforce Development Board, Cortland Works Career Center, Ithaca Area Economic Development, Tompkins Cortland Community College, Tompkins County Workforce Development Board, Tompkins Workforce NY, TST BOCES: How It’s MADE Manufacturing and Development Expo
MFG Day is manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation, positively shift perceptions about the manufacturing industry, and build the foundation for the manufacturing workforce of the future. The How It’s MADE Manufacturing and Development Expo (MADE) at Tompkins Cortland Community College is the area’s annual National Manufacturing Day event.
25 organizations have interactive displays and activities of their work to educate and engage regional high school students. Groups of students visit each table to engage in the activities and learn more about careers in manufacturing. Youth learn about career pathways in manufacturing, meet area employers, discover what the employers are looking for in an employee, and gain connections for internships/jobs. Youth leave with a better understanding of potential careers in manufacturing and are better able to connect their classroom learning to potential jobs in the modern manufacturing workforce.
Thank you to all of our exhibitors, schools, and volunteers for making this event possible. Special thanks to our generous sponsors: Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology, BorgWarner, C&D Assembly, Inc., Cortland Area Chamber, Farmer Ground Flour, Incodema3D, Indian Milk & Honey, Ithaca Area Economic Development, Laborers Local 785, Precision Filters Inc., Stork H&E Turbo Blading Inc., Seven Valley Specialty Cables, Therm Inc., and Workforce Development Institute
