Exploring the Marvels of Manufacturing
During the month of October 2020 (kicking off on MFG Day), students in grades 6-12 in northwestern Pennsylvania can explore the diverse products, career opportunities and super heroes in manufacturing. And, also share their own stories of how manufacturing has touched their lives. All students participating will also be eligible for some really cool prizes. Students can participate on their own, or teachers can include as a classroom activity (whether they are in school or virtual). The program is for students in grades 6-12, located in specific 14 counties of northwestern Pennsylvania. Counties inlcude: Cameron, Clearfield, Clarion, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Potter, Venango, Warren. The activity packet can be downloaded at www.nwirc.org/mfgmonth and the entries are submitted there as well. The student activity includes writing a brief article about how manufacturing has touched their life, and completing a short worksheet after watching Whats So Cool About Manufacturing videos created by students about companies in the region.
How To Join This Event
This event isn't necessarily an online tour, but is virtual because students receive an activity packet and watch videos (created by students) that are located at the What's So Cool About Manufacturing website, www.whatssocool.org. The completed activities are then submitted via an online portal to be eligible for awesome prizes. The online portal for obtaining an activity packet and submitting entries is at: www.nwirc.org/mfgmonth. To be eligible, student must be in grades 6-12, and in 14 specific counties of northwestern Pennsylvania.
