Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance: Dickinson Area MFG Day
300 ninth grade students attend for hands-on, active-learning about manufacturing skills
Education, community and industry partners are coming together to offer an in-person Manufacturing Day event on Friday, October 7 at Bay College West Campus (Bay West). The purpose of this event is to proactively educate students and the community about the skilled trades and technical career opportunities that exist locally. Manufacturing Day will include around 300 freshman students from area schools in Michigan and Wisconsin. Students will participate in a series of hands-on activities presented by Billerud, BOSS Snowplow, Systems Control, Loadmaster, CCI Systems, Grede and Trident Maritime Systems.
The Dickinson Area Economic Development Alliance, Bay West, Northern Initiatives/MI Manufacturing Technology Center, Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District and Michigan Works! are all contributing to make this a successful event for the students. Manufacturing Day is just one of many events within a larger effort to educate the community about the opportunities that exist for young people. This event is not open to the general public. Inquiries can be directed to [email protected].
