Association of Washington Business Manufacturing Week Live Series
Traditionally, AWB staffers spend more than a week in a custom-wrapped tour bus, visiting shop floors in every corner of the state and in every sort of industry, from mint flavoring and agriculture to metal fabrication and PPE manufacturing. The bus will tour raised awareness of the role manufacturing plays, supported the successful growth of our state’s manufacturing sector, and also gave us the opportunity to call some attention to some of our state’s manufacturers who are contributing to their communities and the state economy in innovative and impactful ways.
AWB aims to bring attention to Washington’s manufacturing economy by highlighting the important role manufacturers continue to play, and by calling attention to the challenges facing manufacturers. Those challenges include a complex regulatory environment, relatively high taxes and a skills gap that’s already making it difficult to find qualified workers. This is all on top of the unprecedented challenges posed by the coronavirus.
As you might have guessed, in accordance with state health standards, the 2020 Manufacturing Week bus tour will look a little different.
AWB will still be highlighting manufacturers all across the state this year, but instead of AWB staff touring your facility, we’ll be focusing our efforts on pushing out a series of broadcasts from October 2 through October 9. Every show will be full of interviews and will be featuring different locations every day. Employers, students, parents and educators will be able to tune in from the comfort of their home, office or on the go with their mobile device.
