San Angelo Chamber of Commerce: San Angelo Manufacturing Days
The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development organization has put together a full month of events to promote modern manufacturing in our local area, geared not just to our community but more specifically to our local STEM endorsed high school and trades/technical-professions students and their parents. These include three different plant tours, two workforce development courses, one manufacturing business expansion / technology presentation, and a high school/community-college/4-year college/community engineering and manufacturing pathway symposium. The plant tours are with a leading medical device manufacturer (Ethicon), a LED lighting/signage manufacturer (Principal LED), and a major steel fabricator servicing the oil & gas industry (Long Industries). We are kicking off the events with the culmination of the first annual, 3-day Aermotor Windmill Certification Training course. Other events include a presentation by Sustainment Tech Co-Founder Michael Morford at the San Angelo Regional Manufacturers Alliance meeting, where Michael will be talking about how his online software platform makes heavy industry more efficient and gives vendors increased customer access. The Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center (TMAC) will also be in San Angelo for five full days delivering their coveted Manufacturing Supervisor Certification Training to incumbent employees of our area manufacturing companies. Lastly, we will be kicking off an Annual STEM2D Symposium between the San Angelo ISD, Howard College, Angelo State University and local manufacturer Ethicon, Inc. (part of the family of Johnson & Johnson Companies).
